The Crystal ball is the symbol of the mystic to many and is therefore seen as deep and mysterious by association. It has been used for centuries as a tool for predicting the future employing a method called scrying. This entails gazing into the crystal ball until images, words or messages are presented to you - sending you divine guidance. But of course, it is not as easy as it looks and it takes practise to master the correct techniques. So what do you need to do and where do you start? Here are some suggestions to help you on your way.

Prepare Your Environment

The environment in which you work is very important in enabling you to work efficiently with a crystal ball. You should ensure that you will not be disturbed so switch off phones if this is at all possible. I find that working in the evening is best as you are able to create the right lighting. This is a personal preference though so experiment. Harsh daylight or main lights in the room can create some distracting reflections so try candles or low watt lighting. Candles can be great for setting the right tone but don't place them too near the ball.

If you don't feel that your room will be quiet enough, try some relaxing music to help drown out unwanted noise.

Preparation - Be in the Right Mood

Do not underestimate your own contribution when using a crystal ball; it will be your energies that you are channelling. Make sure that you are in the right frame of mind by relaxing and clearing your mind. You can do this by meditating, taking a relaxing bath or listening to music that detaches you from day to day life. Take a moment to visualise your mind opening up, to connect to the energies around you, be in the moment. eg. listen to the sounds of birdsong outside.

Then take a moment to go over some of the issues in your life and form any questions that you may have. It is fine to consult the crystal ball without a specific reason but knowing your purpose can help you focus.

How to Use the Crystal Ball and What to Look For

Place your hands on the crystal ball for a few moments and try to feel your energies connecting. This will become easier over time but when starting out, just try to ensure that your mind is as open to this as possible. Then place your hands beside the ball and focus intently into it. Let your eyes dip in and out of focus; it is not your eyesight that you will be 'seeing' with. It is common to see the crystal ball fill with a fog like appearance but not everyone has the same experience.

Then you will need to look for images or messages that flow into your mind. Don't be too quick to interpret them, just try to recognise what is placed before you. Interpreting what you see is what takes time and practise. I recommend starting a note book or journal to look at any patterns of the images that come up and tracking your progress.

Above all, persevere. Don't expect everything to come to you in one go. The crystal ball is an object of deep mysteries so have patience and let these unfold over time.
